Re-editing time!

Since everyone is quarantined during the virus outbreak, editing the scenes
I filmed isn’t going to be difficult. I have nothing to do all break because everything
is closed and inaccessible so I am going to put all my energy into editing my movie.
Although I have one minute and 20 seconds of my movie already edited, I need to
re-edit some of it. Since the peer review, I noticed a couple things that can be changed
about my movie. There are a couple aspects to it that can be improved. Improving the
movie is my number one priority. The music can be better, the transitions, and the film
quality. I had a total of 9 out of 14 camera angles, movements, and sound. Some I had
included were an establishing shot, a long shot, a high angle, a low angle, a pan, an
action match, and diegetic sound. I want to re-edit it in order to include all the things
i’m missing.
One big aspect of the opening sequence are the titles. As of now, I have
none. I am going to work on the titles of my movie. I don’t know how many
titles I’m going to include in the opening sequence. I know there are required
titles that I need to include. I also know there is a specific order to the titles. The
order the titles go in is the name of the studio that is distributing the film, the name
of the production company responsible for making the film, production, the
director’s name, cast member’s names, the film title, casting by, music, and
the production designer.

Re-shooting time!

Before my spring break, I wanted to re-film some of my scenes. It’s not that
the scenes that I filmed a couple weeks back were bad, I just felt that they could
be better. So today, I decided it was time to re-film the scenes I needed. However,
since there is a global pandemic happening, my re-filming needed to be rescheduled.
The COVID19 virus is a serious problem happening and the scenes I needed to film
were outside. I made sure that taking precautions towards the virus was my first priority.
I ended up re-filming scene nine of my film. I also re-filmed part of the fourth scene.
\Re-filming these scenes were actually fun and easy compared to filming them the
first time.

I’m glad I filmed when I did because I’ll have enough time to edit the movie. However,
I still have a couple more scenes to film. I decided to re-film certain scenes before
filming the scenes I hadn’t filmed because I don’t want to film with a friend since the
virus is everywhere. I want to do this in order to have enough time editing. I also need
to continue filming some scenes and shots that I failed to film in the time crunch that I
was on. After filming everything, I plan on editing the scenes to finish it up and put the
final details in. There was a problem with the sound and music in my film that I had
noticed. The problem can be easily fixed in a couple of minutes. I hope I’m able to
finish everything I need in order to stay on the timeline I envisioned.

Continuing to film

This past week I continued to film. I filmed the last shot of the fourth scene,
the first three shots of the seventh scene, all of the ninth scene, and the tenth
scene. The last shot of the fourth scene includes the main character driving to the
coffee date. The first three shots of the seventh scene included shots of the main
character’s date walking down the sidewalk. The ninth scene includes six shots of
the main character preparing the clean up of the murder of her date. The tenth scene
\includes four shots of the final steps of cleaning her murder. I was only able to film only
snippets of certain scenes because of a time constraint. Since I was on a time crunch
when it came to filming I decided to re-plan my entire filming schedule. The date to turn
in the project is less than a month away. This means that I need to get my act together
and finish it.

Each week I plan on doing something. These upcoming two weeks are going to be
difficult to film and edit because one week is not a full week and the second week is
spring break. It’s going to be difficult because we are not allowed to check cameras,
tripods, and SD cards out of the classroom. However, the other weeks I am going to
\film and edit my heart out. I need to film the rest of my scenes. Scenes six and eight
need to be filmed. Scene six includes shots of the main character on her date. Scene
eight includes shots of the main character about to kill her date. I hope I’m able to finish
everything on time. This project is like my baby.

Self Reflection

After the peer review, I realized how much work needed to be done
on my movie. The person that reviewed my film had given the paper that
they used to review my movie. When I got it back, the amount of things I
was missing was less than what I thought I was missing. They had said that
the transitions were clean throughout the film. They also wrote that there were
no titles included in the film. This was because I didn’t think that we needed
them yet, but I was mistaken. They continued with how throughout the film there
was great lighting. I also avoided filming the tripod and other people. I had gotten the
majority of camera angles, movements, and sounds that were required. I had
a total of 9 out of 14 camera angles, movements, and sound. Some I had included
were an establishing shot, a long shot, a high angle, a low angle, a pan, and an action
match. One thing that they really liked about my film was the concept.

After going over the review sheet, I decided it was best to re-plan my schedule. In two
weeks I want to filming the whole movie. I want to do this in order to have enough time
editing. I also need to continue filming some scenes and shots that I failed to film in the
time crunch that I was on. After filming everything, I plan on editing the scenes to finish
it up and put the final details in. There was a problem with the sound and music in my
film that I had noticed. The problem can be easily fixed in a couple of minutes. I hope
I’m able to finish everything I need in order to stay on the timeline I envisioned.

Peer Reviewing

Today was a nerve racking day to say the least. Today our class was
assigned to do peer reviewing for our movies. I felt confident enough in
my movie to where I knew that my peers wouldn’t rip my movie to shreds.
The way that we kept the peer reviewing anonymous was pretty simple. Our
teachers had assigned a number to each group and every group received a
number to review. I received the number seven to review. Number seven’s film
was two minutes long. It told a story of a regular couple going on a picnic and
then the girlfriend gets kidnapped. The transitions were clean throughout the film.
There were no titles included in the film. There was great lighting during the film.
The lighting was good throughout the film, no need to change anything. However,
the sound quality can be worked on. When the actors were outside, the wind impaired
the dialogue. They avoided filming the tripod and other people. Group seven had a
total of six out of 14 camera angles, movements, and sound. They included an
establishing shot, a long shot, a high angle, a low angle, a pan, an action match,
and they had diegetic. One thing that I really liked about their film was the concept.
Although there are probably thousands of films with the same concept, I’ve always
been gravitated towards the thriller genre. One thing that I would make to the film
would be to try and re-shoot the scenes where the dialogue is muffled because of
the wind. Overall, I thought the film was good because it seemed like they had really
worked on the filming and planning of it.
